Students about to write exams may resume – FG

Anthony Iwuoma

The Federal Government on Tuesday gave the green light to schools to resume studies but only for students about to write exams.

This is coming on the heels of the plans by President Muhammadu Buhari to commence easing the lockdown he ordered because of Covid-19 from May 4, Monday next week.

He was, however, silent
on when schools would reopen.

But Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, clarified on Tlevision Continental, TVC, that schools might re-open for those about to take exams.

Adesina said candidates preparing to write the West African School Certificate Examinations and other examinations could return to school.

“If you look at Germany, they gradually reduced their lockdown by opening the schools for those who have exams.

“Same may apply here as those who are to write WAEC and take examinations may be allowed to resume to take their exams.

“The Presidential Task Force will be the ones to decide on when to re-open,” the presidential spokesperson said.
