Rivers LG boss gifts vehicles to deputy, Councillors

It was jubilation galore at Ngo, headquarters of Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, as the council chairman, Mr. Erastus Awortu, presented 12 vehicles to his Vice and other Councilors.

According to the Council boss, the vehicles represented would enhance the duties of beneficiaries.

He urged them to remain conscious of safety while judiciously using them to enhance their respective performances.

A Venza SUV 2015 model and 11 Toyota Corolla 2013 model brand of vehicles were presented  to 11 serving Councilors and the Vice- at the LG council in Ngo.

According to him, “I want to urge the Councilors and the vice Chairman to see these cars as part of their work tools and judiciously channel them into positive use,” he said.

The council boss thanked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the opportunity given him and his team as he promised to attract democracy dividend, continued loyalty and support to the party.

“We will strive to attract more respect, love and make the party the envy of the grassroots, which is why we went ahead to renovate and clear backlogs of unpaid rent for the LGA’s party secretariat and today, PDP secretariat is wearing a new look.”

Speaking also, Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Ikunyi-Owaji Ibani, applauded the council Chairman for providing mobility for the council legislators and the vice Chairman.

Hon. Ibani, who is also the lawmaker representing Andoni state constituency in the state House of Assembly, urged beneficiaries to replicate same gasture by impacting positively on their wards and proposing bi-laws that would better the living standards of the locals.

In the words of Hon. Ubani, “The council procured these vehicles to ease the jobs of beneficiaries so that there won’t be any excuse for laxity.

“This is the first time we are witnessing such huge democracy dividend, it’s indeed a new political agenda and a new face to grassroots governance.

“Sworn in June 17, barely 63 days, this administration has attracted so much joy and fulfillment to political stakeholders especially in the area of infrastructure and I urge you to do more,” he said.
