Stakeholders of Agbere community in Bayelsa State have called on the Presidency to confirm the appointment of Prof. Nelson Brambaifa as the substantive Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Leading the stakeholders, Comrade John Ebidou, in a statement made available to journalists, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for the appointing their son, as acting Managing Director of the Commission, even as they called on him to take a step further and confirm the appointment.
The stakeholders, who were visibly happy with the appointment of Prof. Brambaifa, could not hold their joy as they welcome him when he visited to exercise his civic responsibility before the postponement.
Accordingly, the stakeholders averred that the leadership prowess and wealth of experience of Prof. Brambaifa is second to none, even as they noted that under his leadership the commission would experience positive progress across the nine states.
Continuing, they posited that Prof. Brambaifa as an astute discipline gentleman, would in still discipline into the activities of the commission, introduced a new governing culture that thrive of effectiveness and efficiency in its response to issues and daily operations of the Commission.

The stakeholders alluded that bottlenecks and bureaucracy which is the bane of government operations would be eliminated, with modern governance practice in administering the nine states that makes up the commission.
Elated, Prof. Brambaifa, who received some supporters of the Umbrella People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the fold of the All Progressive Congress (APC), assured them that the President Buhari-led government is irrevocably committed to the socio-economic and political development of the Niger Delta.
According to him, their defection is not misplaced, as President Buhari has the will power and determination to re-write the Niger Delta story and correct age long wrongs inherent and bedeviling the region.
He urged the youths to be of good behaviour, shun violence and rancour ahead of re-schedule date for the presidential and National Assembly polls, and urged to peacefully cast their vote for the candidates of the APC.
To this end, Prof. Brambaifa reiterated that election is not about fighting, violence, maiming and killing, rather it is voting for one’s preferred candidates in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, where people votes would be counted.
