A popular hotel, Golden Tulip, along Evo Road at the Government Residential Area in Port Harcourt, Rivers State was partially engulfed in fire this afternoon (Tuesday).
The Nigerian Xpress learned that the fire started from a room at the first floor of the five storey building and was approaching the 2nd floor when it was attacked by safety department of the hotel.
It was also gathered that the management and customers at the building as at the incident time made tremendous effort to stop the fire from spreading round the building and it was put off before the arrival of the Rivers state Fire Service who stormed the scene under 15 minutes of contact.

It was further gathered that cause of fire was linked to electrical malfunction.
Our correspondent who visited the scene of incident reported that no casualty was recorded, as the person in the room left before it worsened.
