Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari has not been seen in public since September, after the wedding of her daughter, Hannan Buhari.

She has reportedly ‘fled’ the country to Dubai.

The reason, a Sahara Reporter’s story said, the First Lady fled the country over a security breach that occurred at the presidential villa in June.

As per the story, “this concern was triggered by a shooting incident which occurred in June and caused some panic among occupants of the Aso Villa.

SaharaReporters had reported that there was a crisis in Aso Villa after security details of the President’s wife removed Buhari’s Personal Assistant, Sabiu ‘Tunde’ Yusuf, from the place after he refused to embark on a 14-day isolation period upon returning from a trip to Lagos.

Shortly afterwards, the First Lady’s ADC, Usman Shugaba, in an attempt to apprehend Yusuf, reportedly fired gunshots but the President’s aide escaped to the residence of Mamman Daura where he spent the night,” the story.

The First Lady has not been seen in public or heard of for the last three months.

Her social media accounts, namely her Twitter account last tweeted in October.

Nigerians have taken to Twitter to speculate on why she has been absent from the social scene.

Modupe Odele who was stopped by the Nigerian Immigration Service from leaving the country in November said the First Lady was allowed to relocate to Dubai, while she was not allowed to travel to the Maldives to celebrate her birthday.

“A {while} First Lady can relocate to Dubai and I can’t even visit Maldives na wa o,” she said.

Morris Monye wondered what is making the First Lady unsafe in Aso Rock which is the most secure place in the country.

“If the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria does not feel safe in the Aso-Rock which is perhaps the safest building in Nigeria (after the CBN) then who/what is making her unsafe there…,” he tweeted.

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode said while the president is in his home state, Katsina to have a rest, the First Lady is in Dubai due to insecurity.

“The President is in his home town of Daura having “a rest”, the First Lady is in Dubai due to security challenges in the Presidential Villa, the Chief Justice has Covid 19, the Chief of Army Staff is in isolation, several Army Generals have Covid 19. These are bad omens,” he said.
