My problem with Igboho -Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed the reason he is angry with the leading Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho.

According to the president in a statement by his media aide, Garba Shehu, Igboho had been making seditious utterances and promoting hatred against the Fulani ethnic group.

He lauded the Department of State Security (DSS) for their raid on Igboho’s residence and accused him of disturbing the peace of the country while agitating for his Youruba kinsmen against attacks by Fulani herdsmen.

The DSS had last week raided Igboho’s home in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, allegedly killing two people, arresting others and declaring Igbogho wanted.

It also claimed that assorted dangerous weapons with which the Yoruba activist was planning an insurrection against the country were discovered in the house.

The statement read: “In furtherance of continued diligent work, the State Security Service on Thursday, 1st July raided the residence of a militant ethnic secessionist, who has also been conducting acts of terror and disturbing the peace under the guise of protecting fellow “kinsme”.

Furthermore, it noted that Igboho’s “seditious utterances and antics, which he is known to have publicly expressed, have overtime morphed into very hateful and vile laden speeches.

“It must be highlighted that the government respects fundamental rights of citizens to express their views and recognises this as a democratic tenet. However, any attempt to build an armoury coupled with plans either subtle or expressed to undermine our unity as a nation will not be condoned.”
