Ladipo inaugurates Egypt chapter of Supporters Club

From George Aluo, Cairo
Super Eagles may not be part of today’s AFCON final, but Nigeria remains the toast of soccer fans here in Egypt, even as President General of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Dr Rauf Ladipo inaugurates Egypt’s chapter of the club today.
Ladipo told The Nigerian Xpress Sports today in Cairo that he has decided to inaugurate a chapter of his group in Egypt after mobilizing some Egyptian fans during the on going AFCON.
“Egyptians are in love with Nigerian football and we all saw it with the way they supported Eagles in all our matches here. They literally fought Algerians to a standstill for us during our semi final match. Our legends like Rashidi Yekini, Emmanuel Amuneke, Dan Amokachi, John Utaka are household names here in Egypt. This informs why I have decided to inaugurate a chapter of our club here,” Ladipo said.
He thanked Egyptian fans for identifying with the Eagles, even as he pointed out that with the inauguration, Eagles would have a fan base in Egypt.
“We did this during the World Cup in Brazil and Russia. We have our chapters all over the world,” Ladipo said.
Ladipo further disclosed that officials of Nigerian embassy would grace today’s inauguration.
