There was pandemonium at Okigwe town of Imo State, on Wednesday, after some gunmen invaded the facility Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), killing two officers while several others were critically injured and are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
The officers were attached to Operation SEARCH AND FLUSH, which is a joint security task force established by the Imo state government.

It was gathered that the attack happened at the Umulolo section of the town in the early hours of Wednesday
A security source told our correspondent that the Correctional officers were ambushed by their attackers.
Their attackers were said to have thrown dynamites into their vehicles. Two officers were killed on the spot while others were rushed to the hospital.
It was gathered that while one Hilux van was destroyed by the dynamite, the other was not affected.

The unaffected van was said to have been returned to base at the command’s headquarters in Owerri.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the command, Goodluck Uboegbulem, said the centre is yet to get full report of the incident.
