Gunmen abduct ex-Chair of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers

Eze Samuel Agunwa Ohiri, a former chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, was on Saturday abducted by unknown gunmen.

 

 

The monarch was reportedly abducted at the front gate of his palace in Orodo, Mbaitoli Council Area of Imo state.

Ohiri’s brother, who is said to be a United States-based businessman, known as Solomon Ohiri, was also allegedly kidnapped.

“This Saturday morning, Ohiri and his brother from the United States, decided to drive out in their car in the spirit of the Christmas celebration to visit some of their friends. After their visit, they returned,” an eyewitness disclosed.

 

 

“As they arrived at Ohiri’s compound; They packed their vehicle, at one side of the compound, and as both of them were having the final discussion before they could say bye to each other. A highlander vehicle filled with gunmen double-crossed them and shot sporadically. They dragged both of them into the vehicle and drove away. They drove toward the Njaba to Orlu road.”

 

 

However, another eyewitness, claimed that Ohiri’s brother struggled with the kidnappers and was able to escape.

The Imo State Police Command is yet to react to the development.
