Gboyega Isiaka mourns as Orunsolu, Chief Imam of Egbaland dies at 98

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun state, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, has condoled the family, Egbaland and Muslim community in Ogun State over the death of Chief Imam of Egbaland, Sheik Liadi Orunsolu, at the age of 98.

The renowned Islamic cleric died in his house in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to Islamic rites, he was buried same day.

The late Sheik until his death was the President-General, League of Imams and Alfas in Ogun state.

Isiaka in a condolence message personally signed by him described the cleric’s death as a great loss to the Muslim Community, the State and the country in general.

He said the late Sheik was an expemplary Islamic scholar and leader who was committed to the growth of Egbaland and by extension Ogun state.

His words “I am saddened by the demise of Sheik Orunsolu. He was a very good promoter of the tenets of Islam. He always stood for truth and peace.”

“Having interfaced with him on many occasions, I can say Baba was a very versatile Islamic scholar whose deeper understanding of Islamic teachings and principles easily stood him out among others.”

“His demise would no doubt be felt by the Muslim community not only in Egbaland, but the entire state and Nigeria.” he noted.

The frontline politician prayed for Allah’s forgiveness and mercy on the soul of the departed Chief Imam whle urging all those he left behind to follow his footsteps.

“May Allah give his families, the Muslim community and all those related to the great Sheikh, the fortitude to bear this big loss.” he said.
