COVID-19 lockdown: Lagos records 697 domestic violence

Lagos State has recorded a total of 697 domestic violence in the last three months during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The revelation was made by the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Cecilia Bolaji Dada on Tuesday during year 2020 ministerial briefings.

She said the number was the highest the state has recorded in recent times from February to April this year, compared with 791 cases reported within 10months from May 2019 to February 2020.

She said some of the complaint also came from men who were abused by their wives.

“I want to appeal to our men folks to desist from act of bullying and abusing their wives. We should try as family to live in peace with one another,” she urged.
