Contrary to speculations that the Lagos State Government is set to totally ban operation of commercial motorcycles, known as Okada, Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday suspended the announcement of the total ban.

There had been speculations that following the launch of 300 First and Last Mile mini buses to replace commercial motorcycles by the state government on Tuesday morning, the state government would announce total ban of commercial motorcycles (Okada) operations.

However, while launching the mini buses at Lagos House, Ikeja, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the government would watch for two months the effects the new buses would have on easing transportation on restricted routes earlier announced for Okada riders, before announcing the total ban of Okada.

The governor added that the new minibus is a public-private partnership scheme and would help in bringing succour to Lagosians.

The governor also launched 70 seater 100 high capacity buses by Lagos Bus Services Limited, LBSL.
