Rivers re-open to schools Wednesday

Following satisfactory preparation for the re-opening of schools in Rivers State, Governor Nyesom Wike, has approved the re-opening of secondary schools across the state.

In a statement signed by Commissioner for Education in the state, Prof. Kaniye Ebeku, it said Governor Wike maintained that the purpose of the schools re-opening was allow candidates in exit classes only to return to school and revise with their teachers for their coming exit examinations.

Governor Wike, therefore, announced that “all affected teachers and candidates in both public and private schools are hereby directed to return to school with effect from Wednesday, 5th August, 2020”.

The governor also urged that “all responsible officers should please ensure the observance of extant COVID-19 Protocols in their schools”.

The resumption of schools is for Senior Secondary School students preparing for their exit examinations.
