Rivers Crisis: Lawmakers remove House Leader, sign Impeachment Notice on Gov. Fubara

The crisis rocking the Rivers State Government took a different turn, on Monday morning, as the state’s House of Assembly reportedly signed an impeachment notice on Governor Siminalaye Fubara.
In an early morning session that was presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, and attended by many of the lawmakers, the Leader of the House, Hon. Edison Ehie was removed, while those loyal to the governor were also suspended by the House.
It was gathered that the explosion that occurred in the Assembly complex, on Sunday night, was alleged to have been a ploy to stop the lawmakers from gaining access to the Assembly, on Monday.

As early as 7:00a.m, some lawmakers made their way into the House and immediately commenced plenary where they all signed the impeachment notice on the governor.
Meanwhile, the entire Moscow Road leading to the Rivers State House of Assembly has been barricaded by armed policemen.
In another development, Governor Fubara has reportedly sacked his Chief of Staff (CoS), Chidi Amadi, and the Chief Security Officer of the Government House, Promise Wosu.
The duo are believed to be loyalists of former governor of the state and Minister of the FCT, Barr. Nyesom Wike.
