A pro-democracy group, Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), has congratulated Osun State Governor, Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, on his well-deserved victory in the Saturday, February 19, party primary urging him to be magnanimous enough to extend the hand of fellowship to his former boss, Ogbani Rauf Aregbesola for the sake of peace.

Convener of the group, Comrade Razaq Okokoba, in a statement, in Lagos State, at the weekend, also called on Ogbeni Aregbesola, whose faction lost in the contest to accept the outcome of the contest with the spirit of sportsmanship, reminding him that, “in any contest of that nature, there is bound to be a winner and a loser.”

According to the press release, since all the contestants are all members of the same family in the same political party, what is expected from the winner is the olive branch to the other side while the other side should also team up with the winner to collectively prepare for the real contest in July.

“In the current scenario, we of the CDG view the outcome of the exercise as no victor, no vanquished contest because the glory of the victory in July at the vital poll would be for all the APC members in the state,” reminding that “when Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola lost to Aregbesola in 2010, Oyinlola accepted his fate with equanimity.”

The two sides are therefore admonished to put their acts together to collectively provide good governance to the generality of the good people of the state of the Living Spring, insisting that, “if politics is about serving the people, since someone has been put forward to do it, others should therefore support him to succeed and excel.”

To Oyetola, the group, which was amazed by the overwhelming victory with that very wide margin advised him to continue the good work that earned him such a huge support at the primary, asserting that, there is no doubt that Oyetola’s performance did the magic.

Th people of the state were therefore commended for being appreciative of their governor’s achievement assuring them that he is likely to do more if the support being given him is maximised because reciprocity of good deeds is tonic that energises to double efforts at doing more.

The organization once again felicitates with the governor and his team of competent hands on the Saturday victory, believing that both sides of the coin must have learnt their lessons that would guide them in their future endeavours.
