Orji Kalu in trouble as APC suspends him 24-hrs to election

Chief Whip of the Senate, Sen. Orji Kalu, has been suspended by his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Abia State, barely 24 hours to the presidential and National Assembly election, billed for Saturday.

The decision to suspend the former Governor of Abia State and the senator, representing Abia North in the National Assembly was reportedly based on alleged ‘anti-party’ activities, and it was contained in a letter jointly signed by the Party’s Disciplinary Committee chairman, Barr. Paul Nwabuisi; state Secretary of the party, Chief Chidi Avaja, and party chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu.

The Party explained that the letter, entitled: ‘Notification on Suspension’ is in accordance with Article 21b (i-v) of the party’s constitution.

“The suspension is as a result of thorough investigations and recommendations of the disciplinary committee set up by Igbere Ward A, Bende LGA and the leadership of the party.

“Note that the Party is highly committed to her integrity and as such will not condone any of these afore-stated acts and other forms of anti-party activities, having evidence substantial enough for your suspension, the integrity of the party must be protected.”

The letter was copied to the National Chairman of APC, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu.

Recall that Sen. Kalu had, in a recent Television interview, declared that he ould not endorse the state’s governorship candidate of the Party against his own blood brother, contesting for the same position on the platform of another political Party.
