Fraudsters hack into man’s bank account, steals N300,000

Three fraudsters, Adebayo Oluwatosin, Obinna Abiogbe and Segun Adefunmi, are currently in police net for allegedly hacking into the bank account of a businessman, Kolawole Sobande.

The suspects had allegedly stolen N300,000 from the victim,  but were arrested by policemen from the Ogun State Police Command, on Monday, May 18.

The arrest of the suspects followed an information received from a mobile money agent, who alerted the police that one of the suspects approached him to transfer the sum of N100,000 from an account to his own (mobile money agent’s) account,  and subsequently  hand it over to him.

The agent demanded for his identity card, but discovered that it bears different names from that of the account he was to transfer from. 

According to the Ogun Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, following the information the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Sango Division, Godwin Idehia, detailed his detectives to the scene where the suspects were arrested.

“Idehia, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), directed his men to arrest all the suspects involved the crime. The account owner was contacted and he confirmed that the sum of N300,000 had been removed from his account.

“On interrogation, the suspects confessed been an internet fraudster who specialized in hacking into people’s bank account and siphon their money.

“The Commissioner of Police,  Kenneth Ebrimson, has ordered a full scale investigation into the past activities of the suspects with the view to arraign them before a court of competence jurisdiction, ” Oyeyemi said.
