Ogun fumigates markets against LASSA fever/Coronavirus outbreak

The Ogun State Government has embarked on a state wide fumigation of all the markets across the state, in order to prevent recent Lassa outbreak and to guard against the spread of Coronavirus infection diseases.

Speaking at a flag off rally for the programme, the state’s Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Abiodun Abudu-Balogun, hailed the participants for the rally, noting that the government realised that prevention was cheaper than cure and has decided to embark on fumigation of all markets across the state.

He advised citizens to cooperate with the government, stakeholders and other organisers to make the state clean and free from filth.

Hon. Balogun added that as individuals too, citizens need to step up their personal hygiene in the face of new challenges and recent outbreak, stressed that government would not relent in it’s efforts to work hand in hand with market women and citizens for a healthy environment/nation.

Speaking on behalf of the market women, Alhaja Sabitu Salabu, appreciated the government for realising that the market place was a melting point between different class of people, saying that fumigation of the market was a very key step in stopping infectious diseases.
