The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied reports that Eberechukwu, wife of the immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, was in its custody.
It had earlier been reported that Eberechukwu was arrested and detained by the anti-graft agency over alleged fraud.
However, spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, denied the report, saying that she was not in the anti-graft agency’s custody.

Recall that Eberechukwu’s husband, former Governor Willie Obiano was apprehended about a month ago at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, after handing over to his successor, Soludo.
Also recall that the said Eberechukwu had, last week, declared her interest to contest in the 2023 elections to represent Anambra North District at the Senate under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
