Veteran broadcaster, Danladi Bako, has expressed delight over the return of Bendel Insurance Football Club to the elite class of the nation’s domestic league, even as he congratulated Coach Baldwin Bazuaye for being part of the club’s technical crew that performed the feat.

Bako, a Prince of the Sokoto caliphate, told The Nigerian Xpress Sports that traditional teams like Bendel Insurance would make the Nigerian league more attractive to fans.

“I must confess to you that I m very happy to see Insurance back to the top flight. I want to congratulate the team for making it back to the top.

“I also want to congratulate Gov Obaseki and his deputy Philip Shaibu for making the Insurance project a state project. Right from when they rebranded the club, I knew they were in for serious business.

“Baldwin Bazuaye is my personal friend and I give him a pat on the back for being part of this historic comeback,” Bako said.

Bako, a former Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), stressed that he would love to see other traditional clubs like 3SC, Mighty Jet, Ranchers Bees and Stationery Stores back to the top flight of the nation’s league.

“Those in charge of these clubs should ensure they also get back to the top. They would make the league more glamorous,” he said.

Insurance it would be noted early this week secured qualification to NPFL after the Super 8 play off in Aba. The ‘Benin Arsenals’ defeated 3SC by a lone goal to seal their place in the NPFL which kicks off this weekend.
