Ogun police arrest five suspected pipeline vandals

The Ogun State Police Command said five suspected pipeline vandals have been arrested in the state.

The vandals were reportedly arrested with 12 jerry cans of 50litres filled with substance suspected to be petroleum products.

It was learnt that the suspects Akinwale Tajudeen, Isiah Olalekan, Friday Terry, Mayokun Raheem And Godwin Igho, were intercepted, on Sunday, June 16, at Magboro area of Ibafo, while returning from where they had gone to siphon petroleum products.

According to the spokesperson for the state’s Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), “The suspects were arrested about 6:00pm while the Divisional Police Officer, Ibafo Division, Abiodun Ayinde, a Superintendent of Police, was on routine patrol with his men around his area of jurisdiction.

“The men were sighted beside Buildwell Company in a Passat car with Registration number LAGOS KSF 710 BM and loaded with 50 liters jerry-cans numbering 12, filled with petroleum products suspected to have been siphoned from a vandalized pipeline in the area.

“Immediately they sighted the policemen, they jumped down from the vehicle and took to their heels, but were chased and apprehended by the police team.”

Briefed on the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bashir Makama has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the office of CP monitoring team for further investigation and prosecution.
