Lover used my underwear for ritual, woman alleges

A 31-year-old woman, Rachel Godwin, has accused a suspected ‘Yahoo Boy’ of using her underwear for money ritual.
Rachel, a self-proclaimed physiotherapist at the National Orthopedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos said she met the suspect named Olumide in a BRT bus in January 2018.
According to Rachel, they had exchanged contact and subsequently became friends. They, however,  took their relationship a step further and became lovers.
She alleged while in the relationship, the suspect had hypnotised, exploited her financially and summarily made her run mad.
Asked why she never suspected the motive of the alleged fraudster, the victim said she saw Olumide as a prospective suitor and never thought of the possibility of him harming her.
While narrating her ordeal in the hands of her erstwhile lover,  Rachel said, “I met him in a BRT bus from Ikorodu to Ikeja in January 2018. He had directed me on how to get to the police headquarters in Ikeja, we exchanged contact and he told me he was working with a company in Ikeja. We kept in touch and became close friends.
“Some months after, he told me he had gonorrhea and asked I treat him, which I did. We afterwards became lovers. I guess he hypnotized me such that I really didn’t know what I was doing. I gave him my life savings. He even lodged in a hotel at Ketu for four months and I paid the N185,000 bill.
“One of the reasons why I never thought of him doing me harm was because he took me to his parents house at Ikosi, introduced me as the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
“His family was also very poor and living in a very unhealthy environment. I pitied them and even offered to help. In November 2018, I rented a house and moved out of my parent’s house. He was always visiting me and would often pass the night at my place.
“During one of his visits in December 2018, he said he wanted to buy a Venza. I asked him how much it cost and when he googled it, he said it cost N1.8 million.”
Rachel said she had to gather all she had and even used her land document as collateral for a loan to enable Olumide buy his dream car. “ I used my land document to secure a loan to raise the money to buy his dream car. I just wanted to please him because I thought I was in love. I gathered all I had from my cooperative bank account just to make up the money for the car.  He even requested we open a joint account.”
Speaking on how her pant was used for money ritual,  the Delta-born lady said, “On December 14, 2018, while I was preparing for work, He came to my house with one of my old pants that had been missing for some weeks.
“He gave me the pant to wear. I said I could not wear the pant because I was not comfortable with wearing it. He insisted and when I refused, he went to call one of my neighbours, Helen. Both of them forced me into wearing the pant.
“That was the last thing I remembered because I was told I ran mad and was taken to my mother’s house. I was also taken to Ibadan for mental treatment. When I became better, I kept relating with him not suspecting him to be the brain behind my problem.”
The victim said she had only discovered the brain behind her woes after the suspect had confessed during a prayer session that he used her pant for ritual and had made the sum of $2,000 (N750,000) through same.
“On December 31st, 2018, I went to a church for thanksgiving. I was given some prayers to say every midnight, Olumide was still living with me too.
“While I was praying just a few weeks back, Olumide started shouting, ‘stop praying they have wired the money,  it is only $2,000 from Alaska in USA.’
“ I had to stop praying and asked him to explain and he told he had joined Yahoo plus. He confessed to have used my pant for ritual so that he can start making money through the fraudulent business.
“The next morning he planned with one Solomon to strangle me but I narrowly escaped.”
It was also gathered that the case which was first reported at the Igbogbo Police Division in Ilorodu has been transferred to the police headquarters in Ikeja for thorough investigation.
