NASS poll: INEC fixes May 9 for supplementary election in Rivers

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Rivers State, has stated that it will conduct a National Assembly supplementary election on March 9, 2019 in the state.
In a statement signed by Mr Edwin Enabor. Head of Department, Voters Education and Publicity on behalf of the state Resident Electoral Commission, stated that the election will hold concurrence with the Governorship and State House of Assembly election in parts of the state where election was declared inconclusive.
“Consequence upon the suspension of the National Assembly election on February 23, 2019 in some parts of Rivers State due to violence/disruption of the election process, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Rivers State wishes to inform the general public that Supplementary election for the affected National Assembly seats will now hold on March 9, 2019 alongside the Governorship and State House of Assembly election.
“Recall that two (2) Senatorial district and five (5) Federal Constituency seats in Rivers State were declared inconclusive at the end of the February 23, 2019 election.
“The NASS seats and the affected LGAs are as follows:
“Rivers East Senatorial District (Ikwerre, Emohua and Okrika), Rivers West Senatorial District (Akuku-Toru, Ahoada-West and Bonny), Okrika/Ogu/Bolo Federal Constituency (Okrika), Ikwerre/Emohua FC (Ikwerre), Akuku-Toru/Asari-Toru Federal Constituency (Akuku-Toru), Degema/Bonny FC (Bonny) and Ahoada-West/Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Federal Constituency.”
Meanwhile, the commission has urged voters to turnout en-masse and vote their choice of candidates.
“We therefore call on all registered voters in the affected Local Government Areas to come out en-masse to vote for the NASS candidates of their choice.”
