Lagosians urged to donate blood to victims of collapsed building

Following the collapsed of the building that shattered the dreams of many parents and threw some families into mourning, in Lagos, families and relatives of the affected children as well as well-wishers, have continued to troop to government hospitals where their loved ones are receiving treatment.

Some of the causalities who were initially taken to Massey Children Hospital and  Lagos Island General Hospital, have been moved to Mainland Hospital, Gbagada General Hospital, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Trauma Center at Toll gate inwards Lagos and Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

At the Lagos Island Hospital, relatives beseeched  the entrance of the mortuary weeping over the death of their children and some were traumatized seeing their children in uncomfortable situations.

Mr. Suraju Ogedemgbe who had four children in the school, explained that her wife fainted after losing three children to the tragic incident while the only one who sustained injury is now stable.

The story was not different at Massey and Gbagada General Hospitals, where families appealed to government to foot the bills.

Medical Director of Lagos General hospital, Dr. Ismail Ganikale, who confirmed that the patients were recuperating, appealed to Lagosians to support the patients by donating blood to the blood bank.

Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association, Dr. Saliu Oseni, who went round the hospitals to ensure that his members were up and doing, stated that the statistics of casualties could not be ascertained at the moment, noting that no victim was brought to the hospital since last night

He, however, stressed the need for government to  give necessary support to  families who lost their children and those who were still on treatment.

The families expressed the hope that others who were still trapped in the rubble would be rescued.
