Lagos govt. calls for more investment in the MSMEs

Lagos State government has called for more investments in the MSMEs as a tool to create more employment opportunities

While speaking at the closing ceremony of the 8th edition of the Lagos MSMEs Exclusive Trade Fair, the Commissioner, Lagos Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem said the seven days fair with the theme “Empowering MSMEs For AfCFTA Excellence Through Sustainable Economic Growth has remained a useful marketing platform, through which the state government continues to promote the products and services of entrepreneurs.

She acknowledged the MSMEs sector ‘as a driver and catalyst of a viable economy and a  major factor in creating employment and wealth, generating income, improving standard of living and enabling investment opportunities for profit. ‘

She called on investors to take ‘advantage of the opportunities in this sector in order to grow the economy of the state.’

She also challenged investors to partner MSMEs to scale up those products and services to break into AfCFTA and the global market, assuring them of  reasonable return on their investment.

The Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress,  APC, Cornelius Ojelabi commended the ministry on the success of the fair, adding helping the small businesses to grow is part of the  agenda of the party both at the state and national levels.
