The desire of Sen. Frank Ibezim, representing Imo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly for the establishment of a Federal Orthopedic Hospital in Ihitte Uboma LGA of Imo State has scaled through all senatorial hurdles.
This is coming on the heels of empowerment training for constituents of Imo North, also called Okigwe Zone.
The orthopedic hospital bill was passed by the Senate on Tuesday, March 21, and is now awaiting presidential assent.
Sen. Ibezim, whose other bill, the Project Development Agency Bill (SB. 1097), was also passed on the same day has shown exemplary representation and could not hide his joy, as he strongly believes that the hospital when established would offer comprehensive care for joint-related ailments and contribute to the health and general well-being of the people.
Sen. Ibezim had launched a multi-pronged attack to attract important projects to the much-deprived zone, including the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Okigwe, headquarters of Imo North Senatorial District, which has also been passed into law.
Actually, unknown to the Senator, Hon. Princess, representing Okigwe North Federal Constituency had initiated the FMC Okigwe Bill and had to give concurrence when it got to the Senate after his own bill had gone through public hearing.
Also, the bill to establish an ICT institute in Ehime Mbano Local Council, also sponsored by the Ibezim, has been referred to the committee for a public hearing.
According to the lawmaker, while leading debate on the Bill: “The institute, when established, will carry out scientific and applied research in modern information technology applications to optimise learning processes and some support systems. It will also provide dynamic learning infrastructure with quality education through rigorous teaching and research methodologies in information and communication technology, ICT, to provide academic programmes for professionals and experts in the field of ICT, electronics, software engineering, and telemedicine,” Ibezim posited.
The Distinguished Senator noted that today’s businesses rely on technology, which is extremely important in the workplace as a means of communication, adding that the proposed institute would foster core values among its academia, undergraduates, and graduate scholars as well as ensure a place of pride for the teeming youths in the world of learning.

In his latest move, the lawmaker, on March 22, 2023, facilitated a training and empowerment programme for youth and women in Imo North at the National Open University of Nigeria campus in Nsu, Ehime Mbano LGA.
The programme was organised by National Biosafety Management Agency, NBMA, in collaboration with Easytek Security Services Ltd, with Big Rapid Ventures Ltd., as consultant.
During the training, various agricultural and tools, such as bags of treated seeds, water pumps and sprinklers, insecticides spray guns, wheelbarrows, rakes, motorised grinding machine, and sewing machines, among others, were given out to the throng of elated participants.
