An all-women pro-democracy and human rights but Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Women for Change Initiatives has commended Lagos Governor, Babajide Olusola sanwo-Olu over his remarks on the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the remarks as courageous.

In a chat with our correspondent, the convener of the NGO, Barrister Eyitope Success-Adekunle, reacted to the remarks of the governor that the former Lagos State governor and the leading presidential hopeful for the APC in the coming election in 2023 “remains our rallying point,” saying, “the statement is not only courageous but also patriotic.”

According to her, the statement is courageous and patriotic in the sense that at a time Asiwaju Tinubu is being maligned and disowned by some of his mentees who he, by the grace of God, brought to the limelight politically, “Sanwo-Olu’s statement can therefore be categorised as courageous, patriotic and sign of gratefulness from a humble and credit-worthy human being.”

Sanwo-Olu was reported to have made the remark when another presidential aspirant on the platform of the APC and the Minister of Transport, Hon. Chibuka Rotimi Amaechi paid the governor a visit during th course of his nationwide consultation over his presidential project.

Recall Rotimi Amaechi, who was once the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly before becoming the governor of the state for eight years now wants to contest for president in 2023 just as Sanwo-Olu’s mentor, Bola Tinubu. And to exhibit the show of reciprocity, Sano-Olu was not blinded with the aura surrounding Amaechi by voicing out that, his mentor, Tinubu still remains his and his supporters and admirers the rallying point to the end.

“Although, Sanwo-Olu appreciated his visitor’s thoughtfulness in visiting him, he shunned being hypocritical by letting him know that he also has a mentor he would support in the same race as Amaechi his visitor,” the NGO boss observed.

Against this background, the  Lawyer cum activist agreed that, “Sanwo-Olu has proved once more that he is a trust-worthy administrator and credible mentee whose character is worthy of emulation,” just as she expressed the need for a second term support for him, “now that he has declared his intention to serve the good people of his state for a second term in office from 2023.”
