Ghanaian officials fingered in ‘phantom’ COVID-19 test

Officials of the Government of Ghana have been accused of duplicity in alleged phantom positive COVID-19 tests reportedly turned in by the officials.

The allegation was leveled against the government officials by several foreign nationals, among who is a Nigerian woman, who are alleging, in a viral video, claimed to have been forcibly quarantined in a hotel in Ghana, can be heard saying that the officials are churning out spurious tests declaring visitors  positive for COVID-19 and detaining them at the hotel.

The Nigerian woman, in the video, claimed that “the obvious aim is to continue to extort money, in the form of hotel accommodation, even when no real treatment is being given for the alleged Corona infection.”

According to her, “though many of the ‘detained’ visitors have been declared negative in tests conducted by independent clinics a few hours earlier, the government ‘doctors’ insist on conducting their own tests and declaring most of them positive.

“The result is that the visitor is forced to remain in the designated hotel, accumulating bills.

“This is even as the lady in the video insists that the services at the hotel are below par, with the rooms hardly ever cleaned.”

She said that is the fate many Nigerians traveling to Ghana in recent times have to face.
