Ebonyi LG Council to expend N800m on road projects in the next 6 months – Chairman

The Chairman of Afikpo South Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, Barrister Eni Uduma Chima, has restated that the council intends to expend N800 million on construction / rehabilitation of road projects in the area.
Barrister Chima made the assertion at the Council Headquarters Nguzu at the weekend while conducting newsmen round completed and on-going projects embarked upon by his administration .
He disclosed that Governor David Umahi would soon flag-off the construction of the 6.5km Ekoli-Okegbue road initiated by the Council that links the area with neighbouring Ohaffia in Abia State.
“We are to expend N800 million on road projects between now and the next six months, so far we have spent N200 million “
Barrister Chima restated that the Council has completed on Concrete pavement the One-km Ekoli -Ugoedu road  stating  that the 6.5 km road project is a Local Government Project with the bill of Quantity prepared by the State Ministry of Works”.
“The completion period of this project is 18 months. the entire road project is 6.5km, the drainage is 13.5km”

Barrister Chima reiterated that his administration had executed 6 km Street Light Projects across various communities in the council worth N150 million.
“We have concluded 10 km Street light project, 6 under SDGs , four by  local Government Council .”
” Six local Government Areas in the State were selected to partner with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Street light Projects, both Afikpo South Local Government  and the SDG contributed N100 million each for the project”
Speaking against the backdrop of land crisis that engulfed the two communities of Okporojo and Ogiri in the area in 2017, Barrister Chima said that the Council constructed a Village Hall to facilitate the rehabilitation of the victims.
” Peace has finally returned in the affected communities, we had since commenced the rehabilitation of the houses destroyed during the crisis”
“To facilitate the return of victims of the communal crisis   we constructed a Village Hall to house the returnees. provided mattresses , bags of rice and cartons of income noodles” he concluded.
