COVID-19: We’ve not shifted Edo, Ondo guber polls – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that the Edo and Ondo gubernatorial elections scheduled for later this year have not been postponed.  

Some rumours had had it that the INEC was planning to shift the two state elections due to the ravaging Coronavirus.

But the electoral umpire maintained that it would continue to monitor events as they unfold on account of the pandemic.

In a tweet by a popular telkevision anchor, Seun Okinbaloye, from his verified twitter handle, @seunokin, he wrote, “INEC Says Edo and Ondo Governorship election dates have not been changed,insists it will continue to monitor situation and act if need be. The electoral umpire Postponed bye-elections in several parts of the country due to the coronavirus disease.”
