COVID-19: Ondo govt. distributes relief materials to Vulnerable

The Ondo State Government has distributed relief materials to widows, widowers, orphanages and different vulnerable groups in the Afin-Akoko, Akoko North West Local Government Area of the state to ameliorate the pains of lockdown and cushion it’s effect.

Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Alhaji Rasheed Badmos, state this while addressing journalists during the presentation of relief materials, at the local government council area of the state.

He added that the gesture was an assurance that government was keen at ensuring wellbeing of the people of the State, noting that no less previleged would be left out of the palliative measures.

He said that it was important to distribute the relief materials in order to cushion the effect of the lockdown, saying that no government was targeting to suffer its citizens unnecessarily.

He promised to do everything humanly possible in making sure that the residents of Afin-Akoko, Akoko North West Local Government Area were maximally benefited from palliative measures, noting the gesture would cut across the local governments in the entire state.

According to him, “We are going to reach out to all vulnerable people in the state, poor, widows, not in this local government alone, this is tips of iceberg, more people will soon benefit from the palliatives, there wouldn’t be need for anybody to run after the officials distributing the relief materials, we will get it to your doorsteps”.

Speaking with the beneficiaries, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Oluwasegun Ajiboye, also promised the people of the local government of more dividend of democracy, and all vulnerable groups, poor would be reached out to, imploring them to abide by the directives of the state government to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

Also, the Chairman, Afin-Akoko, Akoko North West Local Government, Elder Ayodele Akande, advised people/residents of the local government to be more tolerance and law abiding citizens during this lockdown, saying that sooner or later the pandemic would be a thing of the past.

Some of the beneficiaries, Mr. Owoseni Ajayi, Mr. Adekanbi Jacob and Mrs. Rachel Owolabi appreciated the state government’s gesture, especially for not leaving them out in the distribution of the relief materials, saying they were not seen as outcast and that the materials would be go a long way in catering for their families during the lockdown.

Some of the government entourages in the distribution of the relief materials including; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Parliamentary, Rt. Hon. Bolarinwa Oluwasegun, Majority Leader, House of Assembly, Hon. Jamiu Maito and Hon. Taofeek Muhammed, House of Assembly members.
