Coronavirus lands in Zamfara, govt. procures test kits, ventilators

Zamfara State has recorded its first cases of the Covid-19, as two persons have tested positive for the virus.

The state governor, Bello Matawalle, confirmed the development even as his spokesman, Zailani Bappa, also disclosed the state government had purchased 20,000 test kits and 12 ventilators for the isolation centres.

Matawalle announced the arrival of Covid-19 in the state, using a short video clip. He said two persons tested positive for the virus in a test conducted by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). 

He added that his administration had already put measures in place to protect the citizens from the disease long before now.

The governor tasked the people on the need to comply with all the protective measures, including  use of face masks and hand sanitisers, observing social distancing and avoiding crowds as much as possible.

Matawalle vowed that his administration would keep taking all necessary steps towards protecting the people against Covid-19.
