Better Nigeria group adopts Buhari for second term

A United States-based Nigerian group, the Better Nigeria USA, says it has adopted President Muhammadu Buhari for second term, come February 16 poll.

Chairman of the group, Dr. Salewa Ola, said this in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen, on Thursday, in Akure, Ondo State capital, by the group’s Secretary-General, Chief Titus Amadi.

He said, “Better Nigeria USA (BNU) is a cohesive network of Nigerian professionals in United States, dedicated in solidarity for the advancement of democracy and good governance.

“We unconditionally resolve to confirm our unwavering commitment to endorse President Buhari’s re-election and hereby urge fellow Nigerians to do likewise come Saturday.

“In view of our commitment for economic excellence and community advancement and in consideration of successes recorded by President Buhari administration, there is need for his re-election.

“Buhari has shown commitment in combating corruption and insurgencies around the country, along with his commitment to eradicate corruption, reinvigorate the economy and results in critical infrastructure development.

According to Ola, BNU’s decision is premised on good governance and its resolve for a stable, united and prosperous Nigeria, where every citizen is a veritable stakeholder.

He noted that over the course of Buhari’s career:“He has demonstrated that he is a leader we can trust and who shares our values and hears our concerns.

“His administration met the difficult challenges facing the country and has firmly stabilised them.

“Buhari has remained a steady hand of calm and good judgments with fairness and compassion, his actions make real difference in people’s lives; and has continued to protect the values we all hold.

“He is a man of perseverance with an inner strength.

“We admire his ambition for the state.

“We are encouraged by his dream and we believe in his big future for our dear state.”

The group described the president as the most credible candidate to run the affairs of Nigeria in the next four years, hence the need for electorate to cast their votes for him on Saturday.

“Buhari has performed well in improving Nigeria’s economy through agricultural transformation and economic reforms.

“He certainly deserves second term to enable him complete the good job he has been doing.”(NAN)
