The Benue State University, Makurdi, on Thursday, matriculated 4,721 students of the 27,673 Unified Tertiary and Matriculations Examination (UTME) and 302 Direct Entry (DE) candidates that applied for admission in the institution.

Addressing the new intakes at the 27thmatriculation, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Moses Kembe, urged them to abide by the spirit of the matriculation oath they took by not indulging in social vices such as; examination malpractice/misconduct, cultism, improper/indecent dressing, drug abuse, homosexualism, lesbianism, alcoholism, prostitution, romantic engagement between students and staff, violence/visualisation, unwarranted and ill-motivated protest in the institution.

Prof. Kembe said, “The result of these vices, which include eventual expulsion of the concerned student, thus becoming social misfits, are obvious.

“Let me, therefore, warn that any of you who falls below our inimumstandards will be traced and flushed out.”

“Management has, however, been vigilant and found these vices intolerable and inexcusable and has therefore put in place security measures to check these vices, because the university authorities have responsibility to train you and degrees are only awarded to deserving students.”
