Bauchi gov. denies making last-minute recruitments into civil service

Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar of Bauchi State has denied alleged recruitment of new workers into the state’s civil service.
The governor, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Ali M. Ali, stated that the clarification was necessary following the allegation by some people close to the governor-elect.

“Following several inquiries by the press, the attention of the Bauchi State Government has been drawn to what it considers unfounded concerns of key spokesmen of governor-elect, Senator Bala Mohammed.
“Towards the tail end of last week, these spokesmen went to town with the story that the outgoing government of MA Abubakar is deliberately, bloating the state labour force by recruiting more personnel at the eleventh hour.
“They inferred that the government of the day is deliberately doing that as a trap for the in coming government,” the statement added.
The statement noted that the allegations were misrepresentation of facts as the said recruitment was rather an internal transfer of personnel within the existing labour force to meet the accreditation requirements of some tertiary institutions in the state.
