Ayodele Olalere

Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Sunday Ola Makinde, on Wednesday, called on the President-elect, Bola Tinubu to work towards uniting the country along tribal and religious line as soon as resumes office.

The clergy spoke at the birthday thanksgiving service organised to mark Tinubu’s 71st birthday held on Wednesday at Chapel of Christ The Light,  Alausa, Ikeja.

Makinde said the 2023 elections has divided Nigerians along ethnic and religious lines and calls for unity.

He added that Tinubu has to work hard on tribal unity and religious harmony and called on Nigerians to pray for him.

He also advised him to choose the best brains across the country irrespective of religion, tribe and political party they belong to.

“Let him choose men and youths who are loyal and not corrupt.  He should use the best brains from other political parties. Nigeria today needs religious unity,” he advised.

Quoting from the Bible book of Psalm 126 verse 3, the clergy said Tinubu needs ardent prayers, undiluted loyalty and support from Nigerians.  He further said he needs ‘divine wisdom, robust good health and victory over his enemies’ for him to succeed.

Prepare Makinde further opined that Tinubu is the President Nigeria needs at this time,  adding that his achievements in the past, both in the private and public sectors,  will make him do better now that he has been elected as the President.
