.Pledges more support for football

By George Aluo
Chief Executive Officer of SITA Group, Paulo Canuto has given a passmark to the organizers of the on going Africa Youth Cup in Praia, Cape Verde.
Canuto whose outfit is one of the corporate sponsors of the youth tournament said the maiden edition of the Africa Youth Cup has kicked off on promising note, even as he pledged that his outfit would do more for both the tournament and Cape Verdean football.
“Given the fact that this is the maiden edition of this tournament, one would say so far, so good. It can only get better in the years ahead. Yes, there are areas to be improved upon, but this is by all standard a promising start. My company SITA is proud to be associated with the tournament. We would continue to partner with the organizers to make it better.”
Canuto stressed that hosting the Africa Youth Cup in Cape Verde has shown that the African continent can catch up with what is happening in other parts of the world.
“We have seen that it is possible for us in Africa to host a good youth tournament. As I said my company will continue to support this initiative. We would continue to do what we are doing for Cape Verdean football, especially in the area of pitch maintenance,” Canuto stated.
The youthful CEO who also bared his mind on the Egypt 2019 AFCON, said he is looking forward to enjoy good football at the African soccer showpiece, even as he rued Cape Verde’s failure to land in Egypt.
“It’s unfortunate Cape Verde is not going to Egypt to reenact the feat of 2013, but that is football. We win some, you lose some. I m not a fan of any of the countries going to Egypt but I want to see good football. I want to see Sedio Mane doing it for Senegal in AFCON and I pray that the best country emerges winner at the end of the day.”
