Security guard docked over theft of scaffolding rods worth N200,000

A 31-year-old security guard, Sulaimon Alli, who allegedly stole 40 pieces of scaffolding rods valued at N 200,000 on Friday appeared before a Tinubu Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The accused, whose address was not provided, is charged with two counts of conspiracy and theft.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Hafsat Ajibode told the court that the accused committed the offence on Oct. 11, at No. 10, Adesola St., Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

She said that the accused, a security guard  who was hired to safe guard a building site, conspired with others at large and teal 40 pieces of scaffolding rods belonging his employer, Mr. Uche Nwokedi.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 287 (7), and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015; which stipulates seven years and two years imprisonment respectively for offenders.

Alli, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, admitted the accused to N50,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Elias ordered that one of the sureties must be a relative of the accused and the other a community leader.

He adjourned the case until December 17 for mention. (NAN)
