Sabo Police Division celebrate newly promoted officers

It was a day of joy and remembering for officers of Sabo Police Division, under the Lagos State Police Command. The event which was held on Wednesday November 6, 2019, at Banilux Event Center, Sabo-Yaba, Lagos state, had in attendance personalities from the government agencies, security forces and traditional rulers.

Some of those present at the occasion were, Honourable Omiyale Kayode Adejare, Executive Chairman, Yaba LCDA, ACP, Tijani Fatai, Area Commander, Area C, Surulere, Captain M. A. Mohammed, 1 Base WKSP Yaba, representing Commandant 1 Base, LT A. O. Akindiya, Captain E. S. Kaura, Brigadier General A. P. Ogunlola, represented by Major O C Akubo, Captain F F Atume, High Chief Kolawole Dawudu, Baale of Abule Ijesha, High Chief Oluwole Odulana, CSP, Olukole Oladeinde, DPO, Sabo Police Division, and many others.

The event commenced with an opening prayer by Deacon Adun, from Foursquare Gospel Church, Yaba, followed by an opening speech by the DPO, Sabo Police Division. In his speech, the DPO maintained that he was happy to celebrate with the newly promoted officers, as good work deserves to be recognized. He urged the promoted officers to be of good behaviour and use their new rank to impact positively in discharging their duties.

In his speech, the Area Commander, Area C, posited that the event corresponded with the Birthday of the DPO. He said he is delighted because those promoted are worthy of the promotion. He said: “The event fall on the DPO’s birthday. I am happy to grace the occasion, I wish the DPO happy birthday. I am happy because we are recognised. When your work is recognised, it gives joy. The people we are celebrating today, who are recently promoted, are worthy of promotion. Those promoted should know that to whom much is given, much is expected. Promotion comes from God. When he decides he will give you. Don’t just go and rest, be hardworking so that more promotion will come”.

Executive Chairman, Yaba LCDA, stressed that the police deserves a better welfare. He lamented that security job is a challenging one in present Nigeria. He commended the effort of the DPO in discharging his duty in the Division. He said: “This community was the center of social life, where we had all the ministers. Yaba is a special community. I recognise all the Baales, community leaders, religious leaders, and the newly promoted officers. I want to thank God for your promotions because is not all the Civil Servants that always get promoted. The local government and police is very close. Nigeria today is witnessing a lot of challenges, we thank God for the peace in Yaba. The three promotions very important in life are, teachers, health workers, and security personnel. When we are sleeping, they are on the road. They need a special attention. If I have chance to go to the National Assembly, that is the first Bill I will push. I want to commend the DPO of Sabo he is very hardworking. I pray that God will strengthen him the more”.

The officers promoted from Sergeant to Inspector were Peter Michael, Mustapha Mohammed, Abur Paul, Oche Ogboji, Okpuka Augustine, Badaki Barakat, Sadiq Kazeem, Goddey Isibor, Nwokenta Ngozi, Idoko Edache, Obembe Olubunmi, Egbe Offor, Adukwu Patrick, Lukhar Lar, and Apkore Lilian.

Also promoted from the rank of ASP to DSP, is Lydia Halizu.
