Pastor Sam Adeyemi, Falz, Joe Abah, Banky W, others dragged to court over role in #EndSARS

A human rights activist, Kenechukwu Okeke, has filed a criminal complaint against Pastor of Daystar Christian Church, Sam Adeyemi and 48 others over their roles in the #EndSARS protests.

The list which includes prominent names like, activist Aisha Yesufu, musicians Folarin Falana known as Falz, Innocent Idibia, known as 2Baba, Tiwa Savage, Peter Okoye, Paul Okoye, Bankole Wellington, known as Banky W, David Adeleke, known as Davido, comedian, Ayo Makun, known as AY was filed on Tuesday at an Abuja magistrate court.

In the suit Okeke is asking that the defendants be brought before the court for their roles in the #EndSARS protest which rocked the country in October.

The list includes prominent names and who took part in the protest either physically or online.

In his supporting affidavit, Mr Okeke claimed that the defendants, using Twitter and internet web source, played active roles in the #EndSARS protest, which later became violent and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 97(2) of the Penal Code Act, C53 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

No date has been fixed for the hearing of the suit.

Nigerians have on the edge after the government began to clamp down on #EndSARS promoters by freezing their accounts and seizing their travel documents.
