Our focus is to meet scriptural need of every Nigerian – says new BSN President

Femi Peters, Abeokuta

Following his emergence as the new national president of the Bible Society of Nigeria, Rev. Kolawole Banwo, has pledged that the society would focus primarily on meeting the scriptural need of every Nigerian.

While promising to raise the standard of the 53-year old society, Rev. Banwo also revealed plans to promote a BSN with global significance and benchmark.

He made the pledge at a private dinner party held in his honour by the Pastor, Victory Life Bible Church, Apostle Lawrence Achudume and wife, Pastor Mrs. Lawrence Achudume, at the premises of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), in Abeokuta.

Notable among those present at the ceremony include the Osile, Oke -Ona Egba, Oba (Dr.) Adedapo Tejuoso, a former member, Ogun State House of Assembly, Pastor Olayiwola Ojodu, among other high profile PFN executives.

According to the new BSN noss, who is of the Egba extraction, in Ogun State, transparency, openness and accountability would be his watchword while at the helms of the society.

“Let me assure you that BSN accepts the responsibility that every Nigerian deserves to have the Bible in his other her language.

“I am trusting God that I’ll raise the standard. Our focus is to meet the scriptural need of every Nigerian. We went to live up to the core values of the BSN.”

“We intend to publish handwritten Bible to reactivate the old experience.  Already, we have 26 translations of the Bible in Nigeria, we are planning to increase the tally and take it to 50 translations. We would like to push a BSN with global significance and benchmark.

“I want to see a Bible Society that trusts God more. This is a platform to serve God creditably.” he said.

He, however, called on other members of the society as well as other Christian leaders to support his dream of raising the standard of the BSN.

He noted that taking the society to greater heights can only be through coordinated efforts of all.

Rev. Banwo said, “I have been well mentored by spiritual fathers. I love BSN with a passion. Becoming a national officer never crossed my mind.

“I was just dedicated to serving God as I have made up my mind to serve God with my all.  I need your prayers and support as I start this journey.  There’s so much to do.”
