Ogunlewe dumps PDP, joins APC

A former Minister of Works, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, has defected from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ogunlewe, who defected to the ruling party, on Wednesday, said some politicians in the PDP were only after their selfish interests.

The former minister officially joined the APC at the party’s caucus meeting, The Mandate Movement (TMM), Ikorodu Division, held at Chief Adenrele Olowu’s house, Igbogbo, Lagos State.

In the words of Ogunlewe, “Nobody should expect a politician of my stature to stay in a house where some leaders are only after their selfish interests.

“What these people care about is only their selfish interests and not the interest of the party.

“I am tired of a party running into one problem or the other and I tell you, these people can never change.”

Ogunlewe, who said APC is an organised party, said another reason for joining the party is because he believed the party would zone the presidency to the southwest in 2023.

According to him, he would not want to be left out of any arrangement to give the region the presidency in 2023.
