Ogun Chieftaincy Bill: Oluwo lauds Gov. Abiodun for assent

A First Class traditional ruler in Osun State, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abdur-Rasheed Adewale Akanbi, Ilufemiloye Telu 1, the Oluwo of Iwoland, has commended Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State for appending his signature on the state’s Chieftaincy Bill, describing the act as a welcome development.

Oluwo, in a telephone conversation with our reporter said, the Bill tallies with his belief that the institution of obaship in Yorubaland should be cleansed and cleared of any fetish and dirty cultures that are inimical to the wish of the Almighty God, saying, the governor’s step is worthy of emulation by other governors across the Yoruba enclaves.

Speaking further, the vocal monarch said he is 100 per cent in support of the governor’s action and urged other monarchs and traditional rulers to support same, saying, enough of situations where ascension of thrones and burial of kings would be shrouded in secrecy at a period when the whole world has gone digital and swimming in high level of civilization.

Recall that, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State assented to a Bill, Obas, Chiefs, Council of Obas and Traditional Council Law of Ogun State 2021, that will give room for faith inclined individuals in those positions of traditional heads to be enthroned and buried according to their faiths.

In addition, Oba Adewale Akanbi (Telu 1), also gave the members of the Legislative House a pat on the back for a job well done, admitting that, it always takes people of courage, wisdom and foresight like them to dish out such a Bill for the sake of humanity and generations yet unborn.
