I won’t be addressed as ‘Your Excellency’ when I assume office – Anambra Gov-elect, Soludo

The Anambra State Governor-elect, Prof. Charles Soludo has said he would not be addressed by ‘His Excellency’ title when he assumes office.

The former Central Bank governor added that rather than ‘Your Excellency’, people should address him by his name, Prof. Charles Soludo or simply as Mr. Governor.

Soludo spoke when he inaugurated the transition committee preparatory to his own inauguration as governor, saying: “I was called His Excellency a while ago, but may I plead that the Excellency tag waits for now.

“That is part of what we will discuss in this committee. You may just need to learn how to call me by my name, but if that isn’t good for you, then, may I request that you simply call me ‘Charlie Nwangbafor’.

“If that one is so difficult for you that you must be formal in addressing me, then you can address me as Mr. Governor.”

The Professor of economics, who flew the flag of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, trounced other contestants in the Anambra gubernatorial election held in October last year and is getting set to be sworn in as governor.
