Gov. Tambuwal preaches peace, tolerance at Sallah

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, in his Sallah message to the people of the state, urged them to celebrate in moderation while they should observe the Eid-el-Kabir with strict observance with the COVID-19 protocols.

In a statement issued, he said ” On behalf of the government and people of Sokoto State I wish our Muslim brothers and sisters a very happy Eid-El-Kabir celebration. May Allah (SWT) accept our Ibadat. May He forgive the shortcomings of those that have passed away; and may He continue to guide us on to the right path.

“We know that now times are different in view of the fact that COVID-19 is still very much around. I therefore appeal to the good people of Sokoto state to, in the course of all celebrations, comply with all the protocols of COVID-19 and continue to pray for those afflicted- that may Allah grant them complete heal from Corona virus or any other form of disease.

“Our fight against COVID -19 has, so far, being very successful. I commend the task force under the chairmanship of the Honorable Commissioner fpr Health, Dr Ali Muhammad Inname and all the members of his team; and, particularly the volunteers as well as medical personnel that are committed to this fight, which is a collective one of which they are in the front line. I, therefore, commend each and everyone of us for our support and involvement.

“We must sustain enlightenment campaign on this COVID-19. It is still there and we need to really be very careful. I will like to appeal to people of the state to continue to support government programs and ts activities.

“And, may Allah (SWT) intervene and give us comprehensive victory over the enemies of state in the security challenges we are facing in the state and many other parts of the country. I appeal to the people of Sokoto state to continue to cooperate and support the security agencies in this fight that is our collective fight.

“Without peace and stability development cannot take place. Therefore, we need to be on the same page and work with all the security agencies to restore peace and order in parts of the state that are affected.

“I appeal to communities in those areas to continue to bear with the security operations going on there. We know how discomforting it can be, but rest assured it is in our collective interests. The state and federal governments are working hand in hand to make sure that these criminals are get rid of in that area.

“Whatever we are doing, by the grace of Allah, are in the best interest of the people. We cannot thank you enough fr your prayers and support. May Allah (SWT) continue to guide us. May He continue to give us his blessings, especially during this rainy season so that we can witness bumper harvest.

“I appeal to our farmers to continue to be more dedicated to their farmlands because the economic challenges are tough this tie around and we cannot afford a situation in which farmers do not go to farms; and at the end of the day we are faced with shortages of food.

“Food security is important. That is why the state government procure fertilizers annually and sale them at subsidised rates to our farmers. We hope that they will judiciously utilize all of the fertilizer, farm inputs and implements that has been provided to them at subsidized rates.”
