Activities marking the second tenure swearing in ceremonies of Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State and his deputy, Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, kicked off, in Yenagoa, on Sunday afternoon, with a Thanksgiving church service titled ‘Second Tenure Inauguration Thanksgiving Service’.
The event was held at the Ecumenical Center, Igbogene, outskirts of Yenagoa, the state capital.
Speaking at the event which was laced with dances of victory spiced with gospel artists’ musical renditions, Governor Diri gave glory to.God for making his second tenure possible.
He assured Bayelsans that his second tenure of office would be better than his first as all the hidden resources will be opened up in the state.
Governor Diri also thanked God for the peace, love and unity in Bayelsa State.
Quoting the Book of Isaiah, he said, “all the hidden treasures would be opened” in his second tenure.
Said he, “thank you Lord for the second tenure because it will be better than the first tenure .As it is said in the book of Isaiah , all the hidden treasures will be opened.
“Thank you lord for the peace in Bayelsa State. Thank you for the Love in Bayelsa State. Thank you for the Unity in Bayelsa State,” said Governor Diri who commended all who made it to the Thanksgiving Service which he described as the ‘starting point’ of the inaugural ceremony.
Several personalities gave goodwill messages at the event including Werinipre Seobarugu a one-time deputy governor , Rear Admiral Gboribogha Jonah, immediate past Deputy governor of the state and Fred Agbedi. a member of the House of Representatives who is also the South South Caucus Chairman in the National Assembly, all spoke glowing of governor Diri’s second coming and the need for support from all Bayelsans.
“We your ambassadors in the National Assembly Abuja , prayed for the governor we have and desired and God granted our desires.
“The experiences you had in your second tenure propelled Bayelsans to support you for developmental deliverables for the next four years
“Be assured we will work beside you to achieve your goals,” noted Agbedi on behalf of his colleagues.
In his sermon, Presiding Overseer of the House of Grace International Church, Apostle David Zilly-Aggrey, said Diri was chosen by God who chooses leaders.
Zikiye-Aggrey stressed that the thanksgiving was not only for the governor but for the entire state because of God’s mercy towards Bayelsa.
Several dignitaries were in attendance including Mrs Patience Jonathan, senator Ben Bruce , traditional rulers , and others.
Other activities before the inauguration include the commissioning of the newly completed section 2&3 of the Igbogene / Elebele outer ring road , and Wednesday will the inauguration proper.
