George Weah, Essien, Eto’ O others to play for Ambode

A total of 35 ex- internationals from different African countries will be on parade on May 18 at the Agege Stadium to play a testimonial match for Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode in celebration of his successful tenure as Lagos State Governor.

Former World, European and African Footballer of the Year and now President of Liberia, George Oppang Weah will make a special appearance as African legends storm Agege for the game.

Chairman Organising Committee of the event and former Chairman of Lagos State Football Association, Waidi Akani, said all the 35 ex- internationals have confirmed their appearance as they have all gotten their tickets.

He listed some of the ex- internationals expected at the match as Michael Essien, Stephen Apia, El- Hadji Diouf, Samuel Eto’ O, Japhet Ndoron, Jeremy Njitap, Yaya Toure amongst others as well as several Nigerian ex- internationals who will be on parade that day.

“We’ re organising the football fiesta in recognition of the wonderful job Gov. Ambode did in Lagos State under four years.

“This is a governor that touched the lives of every Lagosian with the numerous projects he embarked upon which the President even commended when he commissioned some of them in the state last week and we believe that the testimonial match is just to say thank you for a job well done”, noted the ex- international.
