For 30-yrs, political elite have been using us as mere voters  – Kwara South Senatorial Candidate

The Kwara South Senatorial District has not been lucky to have good representation at the upper legislative chambers of the National Assembly and this has adversely affected the area over the years.

Prof. Wale Ibrahim, the Social Democrstic Party (SDP) Kwara South Senatorial candidate said this at a press conference held at the Ilorin NUJ Press Centre, Ilorin.

He vowed that he was coming to save the situation.

According to him, Kwara South, “has remained significantly underdeveloped for the past 30 years. This is despite our people’s active participations in the electionnering process. It is time we stopped allowing the political elites from using our people as mere ‘voters’.

“The time has come for us all to be critical stakeholders in the affairs of our region and take our destinies into  our hands”, the erudite scholar added.

He promised that in the next 42 days when the election into the Senate would have come and he had been elected, the era of genuine representation in the Senate would have begun.

The era, he said would come to separate individuals like him with “a clear vision, mission, skills and capabilities tondeliver a more progressive, prosoerous and united Kwara South from “political elites working for onlyva handful of people”.

Also, he said he had come out to put an end to the reign of those who are people fearing politicians that he said could not deliver dividends of democracy owed the  people and let the God fearing individials that would not “divert the much needed

resources of Kwara South to othet districts by instructions of their Godfathers.

While launching his camoain team called ‘Kwara South Rescue Mission’ and his programme called ‘Kwara South Prosperity Agenda’, Prof. Sulaoman declared that he would transform Kwara South to one of the best places to live in North Central Nigeria and make it a wealth-creating region by attracting investors.

Also, he said while in the Senate, he would promote the wellbeing of the people of the region through equitable access to food, road, shelter, free education, healthcare and job opportunities for a growing youthful population.

He is contesting with Sen. Rafiu Ibrahim of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the incumbent Sen. Lola Ashiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

While Senator Ibrahim of the PDP who once served as the may have to contend with the current popularity burden of his party, the incumbent Lola Ashiru of the ruling APC is having issues with widely alleged low rating on the performance scale.
