FG budgets N18b for INEC to conduct guber polls in Bayelsa, Imo, Kogi

The Federal Government has announced that it would release N18 billion to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of the November 11 gubernatorial elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi states.

Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, disclosed this at the end of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House, Abuja.

Speaking on the N2.1 trillion 2023 supplementary budget, adding that INEC would receive the election funds from the supplementary budget.

He equally revealed that the new Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy would receive its takeoff funds from the budget.

“Equally, N18 billion was provided to support INEC in the conduct of the November 11, governorship elections in Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa states,” Bagudu said.

“Also provision of N8 billion was included in the supplementary budget for the take-off of the newly created ministries like the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.”
