Expect more development projects – Gov. Sule

Governor Sule disclosed this while speaking at a reception in his honour to celebrate his return to the state capital, by the All Progressives Congress (APC), which held at the Government House, on Saturday.

The governor assured that, in the coming days, his administration will commission projects to include, the newly dualized Shendam Road, the state secretariat, a liquefied natural gas production plant in Lafia, as well as the groundbreaking for the construction of the Lafia byepass that will run from Shabu-Akurba-Akunza.

“My dream is to leave Nasarawa State better than I met it. And my dream is to see that Lafia as a state capital can compete with any other state capital in the country. I didn’t make any arrangements for losing.

“I didn’t make any preparations for losing at the courts because in my mind and in my prayers I told and I prayed and asked God not to lead us to have arrested development in Nasarawa State,” he stated.

He said Nasarawa State has great prospects and that his administration would work assiduously to utilize these potentials to the benefit of the people of the state.

Governor Sule warned that the state could not afford to allow the ambition of some individuals to throw the state into a state of anarchy, stressing that the security agencies are on red alert to deal with any situation that could threaten the existing relative peace in the state.

“There were a lot of uncertainties, there were a lot of rumors, there were a lot of blackmail, a lot of insults and a lot of intimidation.  But we thank God the Almighty for granting us the patience. And it’s that patience that the Almighty Allah has asked us to be that is showing us what we are seeing today,” he said.

He chided the opposition for attempting to set the state on fire simply because they failed to get what they wanted at the election.

Governor Sule emphasized that, despite the intimidation and attempt to divide the people along ethnic and religious divide, the people of Nasarawa State remain one and united.

“We can not afford, in any way whatsoever, because of the ambition of anybody, to drag our state into a state of insecurity.  We will do the best we can as the Chief Security Officer of your state to work with the security agencies to keep our state as safe as possible,” he assured.

He described as laughable calls by the opposition for him to hand over governance to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a manner that is completely alien to the constitution of the country.

“I am here. And I am here for all of you. I am the Governor today, I am the Governor till 2027,” Governor Sule said.

While commending his supporters and members of the APC for demonstrating uncommon patience throughout the duration of the litigation, especially with the insults and intimidation from the opposition, the Governor appealed for more patience as his administration continues to deliver more development projects.

He used the opportunity to express appreciation to two former governors, Senators Abdullahi Adamu and Umaru Tanko Al-makura, for standing with him all through while the cade lasted.

Earlier, the Governor was treated to another reception and a mini durbar at the palace of the Emir of Lafia, His Royal Highness, Justice Sidi Bage Mohammed.

Governor Sule’s triumphant return to the state was characterized by the tumultuous receptions organized to receive him by supporters, party faithful and loyalists at Karu, Keffi, Kokona, Gudi, his country home, Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon and finally a grand finally in Lafia, the state capital.

In an unanimous decision, the Supreme Court on Friday, upheld and reaffirmed Governor Sule’s election bringing to an end the 10-month long litigation instituted by 2023 governorship candidate of the PDP, David Ombugadu.

It was an unprecedented carnival along the Abuja-Lafia expressway as multitudes turned up to line the road at designated points to welcome their hero back, with Lafia the state capital virtually brought to a standstill, with women and youths agog as they celebrate the return of the governor.
